Description
The endogenous tripeptide γ-Glu-Cys-Gly — the body’s principal intracellular antioxidant. Its cysteine thiol neutralizes reactive oxygen species and drives phase-II detoxification, cycling between reduced (GSH) and oxidized (GSSG) forms.
Key research notes:
- Core antioxidant / redox buffer & detox cofactor
- IV GSH investigated in Parkinson’s research (Sechi 1996; Hauser 2009)
- Explored for hepatic / detox support & skin-tone research
