Description
A tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) — the C-terminal fragment of α-MSH — that retains anti-inflammatory activity without pigmentary effects. It is taken up by cells (via PepT1 in the gut) and reported to inhibit pro-inflammatory NF-κB and MAPK signaling.
Key research notes:
- Reduced intestinal inflammation in colitis models (Dalmasso et al., 2008)
- Anti-inflammatory via NF-κB/MAPK modulation
- Explored for skin & immune-mediated inflammation
