Description

A 16-amino-acid mitochondrial-derived peptide (encoded in the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene) that acts as a metabolic regulator and is often called an “exercise-mimetic.” Under metabolic stress it modulates AMPK signaling and the Nrf2 antioxidant pathway, influencing glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity in skeletal muscle.
